Florida wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery has announced he will enter the transfer portal after one season in Gainesville. The composite four-star recruit from Miami was considered a solid win on the trail for Billy Napier when he committed last August.

Montgomery had three catches in four games this season and preserved his redshirt. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Montgomery was part of a wide receiver recruiting class with Vernell Brown III, Dallas Wilson and Muizz Tounkara that was considered one of the best talent hauls in the nation. Brown, a Freshman All-SEC player at wide receiver, all-purpose and punt returner, and Wilson, a former five-star prospect who had a 100-yard receiving game and four touchdowns despite missing eight games with injury, are considered major building blocks for the offense.

Tounkara also announced he'll be in the transfer portal after playing in three games this season (two catches, 12 yards). The hook for many of these receivers was the opportunity to play with quarterback DJ Lagway, but the sophomore announced last week that he would be entering the transfer portal.

Montgomery joins a host of young offensive skill players that have announced intentions to leave the Gators. Sophomore wide receiver Aidan Mizell and redshirt freshman running back KD Daniels are among the others that are expected to leave.

Keep an eye on transfer announcements from Tulane

It's expected that new Florida coach Jon Sumrall will look lo some familiar faces to help him fill some holes on the roster. With Tulane out of the college football playoffs after a 41-10 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday, expect news to begin coming out of New Orleans about players that will be leaving.

One player to watch out for would be Tulane's leading wide receiver, Shazz Preston. The redshirt junior transferred to Tulane from Alabama two years ago and had 43 catches for 723 yards and four touchdowns. If Preston decides to leave the Green Wave, there could be a battle for him in the portal even though he's had success under Sumrall and Tulane offensive coordinator Joe Craddock, who will be following Sumrall to Gainesville as the quarterbacks coach.
