Unless Florida and LSU are matched up as permanent opponents once the SEC adopts its nine-game scheduling model, the annual matchup with the Tigers is set to end and will transition to an every-other-year matchup.
In some ways it will be kind of a shame if this series isn't annual as Florida and LSU have had a way of playing some crazy and memorable games in recent years.
Here is a recap of the previous five matchups between the two.
2024- Florida 27 LSU 16
This was Florida's first win over LSU since 2018 and it set the stage for the four-game winning streak that the Gators were supposed to use as offseason momentum.
This game was tied going into the 4th, but DJ Lagway hit Elijhah Badger for a deep shot to open the 4th that led to a Ja'Kobi Jackson TD and eventually Jadan Baugh broke loose for a 55-yard run that sealed the game.
Florida's defensive line was the big story from this game and racked up 11 tackles for a loss, including four from Tyreak Sapp.
2023 - LSU 52 Florida 35
What's wild about this game is that Florida had a second-half lead at one point and was still within three points with 10 minutes to play.
But when we do the rundown of the issues from the Billy Napier Era, it's surprising this game doesn't come up more often, as the Gators gave up a literal college football record to QB Jayden Daniels.
Daniels became the first player in the history of college football to pass for over 300 yards AND run for over 200 yards in a single game.
Sure, Daniels is a great player, but to be the only team in history to surrender that kind of stat line wasn't a good look.
2022 - LSU 45 Florida 35
The irony that Billy Napier's offense is the focal point at the moment is that his 2022 season was defined by the fact his defense was awful.
Florida had a 1st quarter lead, then LSU kicked into gear and tormented Florida to take a 42-21 lead.
Anthony Richardson had his 81-yard touchdown run, and the Gators strung together another drive to get within 42-35. However, a 12-play drive from the Tigers, which included a 3rd and 8, ultimately set up a converted 4th and 1, icing the game away.
2021 - LSU 49 Florida 42
This was the game in which most Gator fans looked around and knew things were officially going off the rails for Dan Mullen. Despite the fact the LSU coach Ed Orgeron was litteraly fired the next day after this game, the Tigers had a rushing attack that Florida had zero answers for.
It also didn't help that Florida's offense was sluggish in the first half and even though Anthony Richardson was inserted and injected life, the Gators couldn't stop Tyrion Davis-Price rushing for 287 yards.
2020 - LSU 37 Florida 34
You know... the shoe...
What gets forgotten sometimes with this one is that Kyle Trask wasn't sharp to start the game and had two interceptions.
But when Even McPherson kicked a field goal to tie it with 2:51 left, it felt like Florida was going to find a way to pull this one out.
Then they got the 3rd down stop they needed, then Marco Wilson became a meme.
What also sometimes gets forgotten is that even with the shoe throw, Cade York still stepped up and drilled a 57-yarder through the fog, and that McPherson had a shot of his own to send the game to overtime, but missed from 51 yards.
