Five losses for Florida from 2022 and 2023 that were red flags for Billy Napier

We all know his greatest hits, but there have been some other under the radar losses that haven't been talked about as much

43-20 defeat to Georgia

Losing Georgia in a vacuum is not the problem.

What is the problem is the fact that South Carolina, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Georgia Tech all gave Georgia a more competitive game in 2023 than what the Gators did.

Florida scored on their opening drive, which was fun, but one of the plays that seems to have been erased from the memory banks of most fans was the 4th and 1 trick play that Georgia snuffed out.

Graham Mertz had the ball snapped directly between his legs to Trevor Etienne, who was immediately stuffed himself. As the ill-fated double reverse flea flicker would later showcase, one of the many red flags to Napier is that when he does try to employ a trick play, it's something easily figured out that even a fan in a basement could see coming.

52-35 defeat to LSU

It's not that Florida lost to LSU, it's that a lot of fans have glossed over just how awful of a defensive performance the Gators put on last season.

For starters, the 52 points LSU scored were the third most the Tigers scored in 2023 and the most they scored against a Power Five opponent.

But the stat that gets glossed over is that Jayden Daniels threw for 366 passing yards and ran for 234 rushing yards. He literally became the first player in the history of FBS college football to throw for at least 350 yards and run for 200 yards in the same game.

The first.

Ever.

In this history of the sport.

And somehow, we are supposed to smile and nod and say, "Well, yeah, he is a good player."

Think of all the historic mismatches through college football's history and then come back and say "Yeah, it makes sense Florida allowed a QB to do something that has never been done."

Ever.

But remember everyone, we just have to wait until Napier gets his guys.
