Five intriguing wide receivers in the transfer portal for Florida Football to watch
One of the glaring needs for Florida Football heading into the 2025 campaign is at wide reciever. The Gators have Eugene Wilson, Aidan Mizell, Tank Hawkins, Marcus Burke, and TJ Abrams in the mix, but none have produced at the level that we saw departing receivers Elijhah Badger and Chimere Dike produce at in 2024.
The portal officially opens for business on Monday, but a number of players have already hoped in. Here are the five most intriguing options in the portal as of now we hope the Gators explore.
Honorable Mention - Jordyn Tyson (Arizona State)
One of the running gags heading into the portal is that Florida needs to raid Arizona State once again for a wide receiver. In 2022 the Gators grabbed Ricky Pearsall from the Sun Devils and this year it was Badger.
Tyson isn't actually in the portal, and there are no indications whether or not he is going to enter. But if he did once Arizona State's season ends he would be a must add as Tyson has 75 catches for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024.
Nic Anderson (Oklahoma)
He is injury prone and injuries derailed his 2024 campaign, but the 2023 season Nic Anderson had is going to make him a target for teams all around the country.
The 6'4" receiver had 38 catches for 798 yards and ten touchdowns in 2023, including the game-winning touchdown against Texas last year.
A low catch but huge yards per catch guy who loves to go deep sounds like a perfect compliment to DJ Lagway.
Eric Rivers (FIU)
The Tennessee native burst onto the scene this season down in South Florida by hauling in 62 catches for 1,172 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Playing in Conference USA, one will take those stats with a grain of salt, but he also put up those numbers as the only notable player for the Panthers as FIU went 4-8 in 2024.
He's 5'11 and would still have two years of eligibility left.
CJ Daniels (LSU)
Proof that huge stats in Conference USA don't translate the massive stats in the SEC, CJ Daniels went from Liberty to LSU last offseason. Daniels had over 1,000 yards receiving with the Flames in 2023 and had 42 catches for 480 yards with LSU in 2024.
But he is a player Florida kicked the tires on last year, and with the deep-threat ability of Lagway, there is reason to believe he could go for over 500 yards with Florida.
Daniels will be a sixth-year senior in 2025.
KC Concepcion (NC State)
As a freshman, KC Concepcion had a monster season with 71 catches for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns. Those numbers took a dip this season, in part because NC State QB Grayson McCall was knocked out early in the season.
The 5'11" Charlotte native still has two seasons of eligibility left.
Micah Hudson (Texas Tech)
The intrigue with Micah Hudson isn't what he did as a freshman with Texas Tech, as he had knee surgery prior to the season and wound up spending the bulk of the season behind former Florida receiver Caleb Douglas.
The intrigue with Hudson is that he was a five-star prospect in the class of 2024 and would still have three years of eligibility left. Florida did offer Hudson in recruiting but never had real traction beyond that.
Dane Key (Kentucky)
Put a vision you have in your head about Kentucky's offense, and it probably isn't a great one. Dane Key still managed to have 47 catches for 715 yards in 2024 with Brock Vandergrift as his QB.
Key had four catches against the Gators for 48 yards this year, and in 2022 he caught the 55-yard touchdown bomb from Will Levis in The Swamp.
Key would have one season of eligibility left.
