There is a lot of momentum right now with Florida this offseason as the Gators are hoping for a big boost in 2026 with Jon Sumrall at the helm. Sumrall has brought a ton of energy to the program and has spent the offseason trying to make even the most skeptical of fans hopeful for the new campaign.

But Vegas doesn’t care about energy and passion; they simply care about the analytical data. And new projected win totals paint a picture of how much of an uphill climb Florida might be facing in 2026.

Florida projected for 6.5 wins in 2026

Vegas just dropped its initial win total for the 2026 season, and as of now, Vegas projects Florida at 6.5 wins for Sumrall’s inaugural campaign.

This would obviously not be what Sumrall, and frankly, Gator fans, have in mind ahead of the new campaign. The 2026 schedule is far from easy, but it avoids some of the heavy hitters Florida will have to face in 2027. Still with that, Florida still has to face Texas, Georgia, and Oklahoma on top of Missouri, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt.

That’s six potential losses right there.

Now, obviously, Sumrall was brought to town so that Florida doesn’t lose all six of those games. If he can split that set 3-3 and sweep FAU, Campbell, Auburn, South Carolina, Kentucky, and FSU, that brings the Gators to a solid 9-3 season.

And in truth, while a 9-3 season might be a tall task, Florida should have more than enough talent to hit the over of this projection. There are unknowns with this squad, particularly along the offensive line, but there shouldn’t be a good excuse for this team to only win six games.

If Sumrall does hit the under of this projection, the honeymoon tour that he is enjoying at the moment is going to disappear faster than he would like.
