Florida fans were a mixed bag of emotions when DJ Lagway announced he was entering the Transfer Portal. While some were happy to see him go, especially after his performance this past season, some were sad as Lagway had already said he wasn't leaving Gainesville.
Well, with the Transfer Portal officially open as of January 2, there have been many reports on Lagway's whereabouts and what official visits he was taking. At one point, all signs pointed to Florida State, which was making a good push for the former Gators QB, but in the end, it was the Baylor Bears who won out on the Lagway lottery.

Former Florida QB DJ Lagway announces transfer to Baylor Bears
Lagway's move to Baylor really is not that surprising in the grand scheme of it all, as his father once played for the Bears as well, and now Lagway can head home. The Texas native will be trading in the SEC for the Big 12, which is certainly a different brand of football, to say the least.
The Bears are getting a quarterback who is hoping to recreate the magic he had in his first season. Before he was named the full-time starter, Lagway dazzled Florida fans with his crazy plays and arm strength, throwing for 1,915 yards on 115 completions, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
There was a lot of hype around Lagway and the Gators heading into the 2025 season, and it was very short-lived. Lagway ended his sophomore season with just 2,264 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. At one point, Lagway was even benched against the Kentucky Wildcats for his poor play.
Now, Lagway will hope for a fresh start closer to home at Baylor. While Lagway certainly didn't help Florida out in 2025, we wish him luck at his new school and hope he can find that success again.
