As Florida Football gets ready to open spring camp, all the major headlines surrounding the Gators revolve around DJ Lagway. In 2024, Florida was undefeated in games that Lagway started and finished, including a four-game winning streak to close out the season.

But in a bit of a surprise, it appears Lagway is going to be somewhat limited this spring as Billy Napier indicated he won't be 100% this spring.

Florida Football: Get Well Soon

Napier didn't indicate Lagway had anything major going on, but did indicate that he won't be going full throttle to open camp:

"DJ Lagway will be limited in terms of his participation in spring from a throwing component with the shoulder and then also the lower body."

"I think some lower body, some shoulder. I think our intentions here are to be very smart. I do think he'll be limited in throwing activities, but he'll participate in all practices otherwise. We've done a lot of homework here relative to the things he went through as a player. He was an absolute warrior. And a great competitor that showed toughness. And we've consulted with quite a few experts here from UF Health, from a national perspective. I think in general, he'll be able to do quite a bit. But there will be some limitations."

Lagway had injured his hamstring last offseason, but there had been minimal indications anything was wrong with his shoulder.

It is a setback as part of the hope this spring was that Lagway could get comfortable with his core of wide receivers, but if Florida feels there is something lingering that doesn't feel right, it is better to ensure he makes it through spring unscathed than risk further injury.

While other schools around the country have canceled their spring game, the Orange and Blue Game will be on April 12 at 1 PM.
