DJ Lagway Injury Update: Florida Gators QB carted off field vs. Georgia
In the first half of the showdown between Florida and No. 2 Georgia, some rough news has come in for theGators and head coach Billy Napier. That's because quarterback DJ Lagway went down with what appears to be a serious hamstring injury.
Lagway was trying to make a play with his legs, but as he was tackled down to the turf, he landed awkwardly and he was not able to get up. It didn't take long for the cart to be brought out and the Florida signal-caller was taken back to the locker room. Since then, walk-on Aidan Warner has taken over running the offense for the Gators:
Florida QB DJ Lagway went down with a serious-looking injury vs. Georgia
Before going down with his injury, Lagway had completed 2-of-6 pass attempts for 47 yards and a touchdown. He added 18 yards on the ground too. The freshman has been a ton of fun to watch and he has Gators Nation excited about his future with the program.
However, now countless Florida supporters are worried about the extent of this injury. The way he was clutching his hamstring was concerning, but the fact that he had to be carted off the field and taken back to the locker room adds another level of worry for this team.
The Gators are hoping to post an unreal upset against the Bulldogs, but the mountain has gotten much more difficult to climb due to this Lagway injury. The Florida defense is going to have to step things up to another level. As of this writing, the unit has looked sharp, forcing two Carson Beck interceptions in the first half.
Florida and Georgia don't like one another, we're not telling you anything new there. Both sides have been chirping ahead of the showdown and fans on both sides would love nothing more than to talk some smack after the final whistle. Right now, however, the main concern for people in Florida is Lagway's health, as it'd be a major blow for the team if he ends up missing a significant amount of time.
