As poorly as the season went at times for Florida Football, it never went completely off the rails like it did for their neighbors in Tallahassee. After a season of huffing and puffing because they were left out of the College Football Playoff, FSU went on to faceplant to a 2-10 record.
The Gators came to town at the end of the season to put the Seminoles out of their misery, and DJ Lagway confirmed that Doak Campbell Stadium wasn't exactly among the most intimidating places the Gators stepped foot in during the 2024 campaign.
Florida Football: Plant The Flag
Appearing on the podcast Outta Pocket with Robert Griffin III, Lagway touched on a variety of topics. We highlighted earlier today how Lagway claimed the Gators used the negativity surrounding Billy Napier as motivation to turn the ship around.
The topic of Doak Campbell Stadium came up, and Lagway took the opportunity to simply speak the truth:
"Yeah, (Doak Campbell) was already silent when we got there."

Florida would go on to win the game 31-11. FSU was largely lifeless during the game, even when the Gators let the Seminoles hang around longer than Florida fans would have liked.
The only fight the Seminoles and Mike Norvell showed all night, and frankly all season, was when George Gumbs planted a flag at midfield after the game.
The momentum of the two programs couldn't be any more different than they were 365 days ago. While the Gators are far from perfect, Florida would beat Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl to finish the season on a four-game winning streak.
FSU, meanwhile, has to backtrack to 2023 to count up their last four wins.
With the game inside The Swamp in 2025, the good news is that there should be a bit more juice to the game, especially if Lagway has the type of season many are hoping for.
