One of the benefits of Pro Day is that it allows members of Florida Football who might not have gotten an invite to the NFL Combine to showcase their talents to NFL scouts. While we know the Gators inside and out, it can be hard for a scout to keep track of everyone around the country.
Desmond Watson was one of the players who wasn't invited to the Combine and who took full advantage of Florida's Pro Day to turn some heads.
Florida Football: Big Man On The Move
Watson was measured at 6'6" and 464 pounds. That is up from the 449 pounds he was listed at in 2024.
While his size is a continued topic of conversation, he showcased that he has the strength and athleticism to go with that size.
On the vertical jump, Watson made it 25". That may pale in comparison to Jason Marshall, but considering there was a good chunk of NBA Draft prospects last year who hovered around 25" that is more than outstanding for someone of Watson's size.
The calling card for Watson is his strength, and he did not disappoint when given the chance to shine. On the bench press, Watson lifted 225 pounds 36 times. Had he been at the Combine, that would have been the most reps by anyone by three reps.
According to bench press calculators, that equals the ability to max out at almost 500 pounds.

Watson came into the day viewed as an undrafted free agent who, at best, was seen as a potential package play player. That may still be his ceiling long-term in the NFL, but to reach that ceiling, he has to get his foot in the door first.
And whether he has boosted his stock into being a draft pick or will at least have multiple suitors as an undrafted prospect, it's hard to envision Watson not getting his shot this summer in an NFL training camp.
