One of the realities of for any team during any season is that guys are going to get hurt, and backups will be called into action. But Florida Football is about to test their depth to the max as multiple position groups are being strained by injury.

The grand mystery heading into Kentucky is how well Florida will hold up in the worst-case scenario.

Florida Football: Get Well Soon

The big headline for Florida is the loss of Graham Mertz for the season with a torn ACL. The sub-headline that has surprised some people is who is now listed as the backup for DJ Lagway.

Most people assumed coming into the year that Clay Millen was the 3rd string QB. He transferred in from Colorado State in the offseason and was the starter for the Rams before injuries sent him to the bench.

But instead, Aidan Warner is now officially Lagway's backup. Warner transferred in from Yale in the offseason and did get snaps during the final offensive drive against Samford this season.

Napier admitted on Wednesday that the depth behind Lagway will play a role in how much freedom he is given to take contact when extending plays.

"That will be a factor. Some of that we'll have to take into consideration."

QB is not the only position of concern for the Gators. At running back, Montrell Johnson is listed as questionable after he had to exit the Tennessee game. Treyaun Webb is also listed as questionable, while KD Daniels continues to be listed as out.

If all three miss, Jadan Baugh and Ja'Kobi Jackson would be the only two running backs available for Florida, not counting walk-ons like Anthony Rubio.

Left tackle is also called into question as Austin Barber is listed as questionable, and Devon Manuel is listed as out. This designation is no different than what Florida released against Tennessee, and Barber did go on to play 72 snaps. But it indicates something is lingering with Barber, and without Manuel able to come in if needed, Florida could be forced to play Caden Jones or Fletcher Westphal if something happens to Barber.

Even long snapper is in doubt as Rocco Underwood is listed as questionable. The only other long snapper listed on Florida's roster is Gannon Burt, a redshirt freshman who was considered a "top-ranked" long snapper coming out of high school.
