Carson Beck went full Tim Tebow after Miami kept its CFP title dreams alive

He might have a future as a motivation speaker too

Tim Tebow has always admitted a bit of an affinity for Carson Beck. It makes some sense,  they both played high school in the Jacksonville area and were highly-touted prospects that faced a great deal of expectations in their college career.

Tebow proved to be as good as advertised. He played a major role in the Gators championship season in 2006 as a backup quarterback to Chris Leak and went on to win another title in 2008 as the starter. In between two seasons, Tebow happened to win a Heisman Trophy.

Beck has had a fine college career, not to the success of Tebow. The sixth-year senior still has a chance to win a championship after scoring the game-winning touchdown Thursday night to help Miami advance to the CFP championship game. In Beck's post-game interview with the ACC Network, he even seemed to channel Tebow's mentality.

Beck had his Tebow moment in the Fiesta Bowl

"I always just say whatever I have to do to win the football game, I'm going to do. If the defense is going to allow me to do that, then I'm going to take it," Beck said. "Obviously, there's been some more opportunities...these past two games for me to use my legs and try to make plays. I'm just taking what the defense is giving me."

And he might've also stolen a few words from Jon Moxon in Varsity Blues.

"I just sat on the sidelines and talked to the guys, 'We've got three minutes for the rest of our lives, nothing else matters. Focus on this. Lock in. I love y'all regardless of what happens. I promise y'all we're going to go down and score and win this game. I'll be damned if we didn't go do it," Beck concluded.

Whether Beck can finish the job next Monday night against the winner of Friday's Peach Bowl remains to be seen, but if Beck continues to draw inspiration from Tebow, he'll have a shot.
