If at least one thing has gone right for Florida Baseball in 2025, it is that the Gators have been winning their midweek games. Despite their struggles in SEC play, the Gators have only lost twice this year in midweek games, a noted struggle for Florida last year.
So as the Gators continue to try and scrap their way to an NCAA Tournament bid, they need to continue to pile up mid-week wins, and on Tuesday night, the Gators secured another run-rule victory over an in-state foe as Florida beat Stetson 14-4 in seven innings.
Florida Baseball: Bombs Away
The first two and half innings didn't go great for Florida. Justin Nadeau had an error in the first inning that eventually allowed two unearned runs, and Alex Philpott entered in the 3rd inning only to give up a two-run homer to the first batter he faced.
Bobby Boser did hit a solo shot in the first but Florida entered the bottom of the third down 4-1.
Brody Donay's double in the 3rd erased that deficit and Florida tied things up at 4-4.
Once Boser hit his second home run of the night in the 4th inning, there was no going back for the Gators, and the floodgates were open. Ashton Wilson hit a three-run home run to make it 8-4 in the 5th inning, and Boser completed his hat trick on the Hatters in the 6th inning with his third home run of the night.
Brendan Lawson ended things with a two-run double in the 7th to make it 14-4.
For Boser specifically, the three-home run night gives him 14 on the season, and he now has a hit in 11 of his last 12 games and has reached base safely in 19 straight games. He is the first Gator to hit three home runs in a single game since Jac Caglianone did it in February of 2023 against Cincinnati.
After the game Kevin O'Sullivan commented on why Boser is now batting leadoff for Florida:
"Boser just had a great night. That's the other thing. In the leadoff spot, maybe that's a spark because we have been playing from behind quite a bit this year. And hopefully most of the moves you make, they work, but certainly he's helped us generate more runs in the first."
Florida is now on a five-game winning streak, and the Gators will now have a massive series against Mississippi State this weekend in Starkville, starting on Friday at 8 PM.
