Entering the 2025 season, most would agree that the Florida Gators need to make a run towards the playoffs if Billy Napier's claim that the development process in Gainesville is, in fact, working.

But why stop at just the playoffs? If history is any indication, the Gators are one of just 18 schools in the country that could actually win the national title in 2025.

Florida's blue-chip ratio gives them a solid roster

CBS Sports released its annual "Blue-Chip Ratio" list of the schools that have a roster that is comprised of at least 50% five or four-star prospects.

They freely admit it's not an exact science, but since 2011, every school that has gone on to win the national title has had a blue-chip ratio of at least 50%.

With a ratio of 64% in 2025, the Gators are one of just 18 schools north of 50% and come in 11th overall in their ratio. While Florida hasn't been talked about as an actual national title contender, it does highlight that the Gators have a strong enough roster across the board that it should make more noise than it has the past three seasons.

The problem, though, is that if you are keeping score at home, Florida has been north of 60% in the blue-chip ratio in all three previous seasons of the Billy Napier Era.

The other difficulty for Florida, and one that has been talked about at length, is that Florida has seven opponents on their 2025 schedule who are also north of 50% in this ratio.

Georgia, Texas A&M, Texas, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, and even FSU all also made the list of schools that could potentially win the national title in 2025, and that's before you factor in Ole Miss and their transfer-heavy roster.

It all paints a picture that while Florida may have a difficult schedule, they have a roster that should be able to match up with close to anyone in 2025.
