There was plenty of interest on both sides and eventually Wilson broke the ice

The Dallas Wilson flip to Florida from Oregon was one of the biggest stories of the Early Signing Period. Wilson's de-commitment from the Ducks and subsequent signing with the Gators gives Florida a potential prodigy at wide receiver and a big target for quarterback DJ Lagway.

Over the past few days more of Wilson's recruitment story has come to light. The elite prospect from Tampa decided that he had to be closer to home and near his grandmother.

Billy Napier added some additional clarity to the situation when he disclosed that while the Gators had been actively recruiting Wilson throughout the cycle, it was the player that reached out to the program to gauge their interest.

With Wilson's attachment to his grandmother, who has been his primary guardian since his mother passed away, it made sense that he would want to be closer to home. It also helps that Florida has one of the top young quarterbacks in the country and Wilson gives Lagway another elite target in the passing game.

Napier understands that Wilson will come into the season with a lot of hype given his ranking as one of the top 50 national prospects in the Class of 2025. He is already trying to taper some of those expectations.

"Now, look, the guy hasn't played in a game yet, right," Napier said. "So there's some growth that needs to take place. He's got some good veteran players around him that have experience. So there will be a different level of self-discipline and intensity and urgency once we get to the season, but there's no question Dallas is going to make our team better."

Of course Wilson didn't do much to calm down the hype when he absolutely went off during the annual Orange & Blue spring game, grabbing 10 catches for 195 yards.

Bottom line is Wilson is a Gator and Napier is trying hard to hide his excitement, but we can see right through it.  So now for the tough question: How many touchdowns catcheswill Wilson have in Week 1 against Long Island University? One? Two? or Three?
