Coming off their shellacking on Tuesday night, Florida Baseball was back at it on Wednesday with a game FAU squad as the Gators were looking to break their mini two-game losing streak.

The bats for Florida mainly stayed quiet, but the Gators got a massive start from Billy Barlow to grind out a 4-2 win and move to 12-2 on the season.

Florida Baseball: Left On Base

Barlow made his third of the season, which was his best outing of the year. The Clemson transfer went 5.1 innings and gave up just four hits and one walk before making way for Frank Menendez. Barlow gave up one run, an unearned run in the 6th.

But the bats for Florida failed to give the Gators much of a cushion. The Gators looked like they could break the game open in the 1st after scoring a run and having two men on with one out.

A double play ended that threat.

Florida loaded the bases in the 2nd inning with one out.

They got one run off a sac fly, and that was it.

Blake Cyr made it 3-0 after a home run in the 4th, but that was the last run Florida would score until the 8th. Florida put two men on with no outs in the 7th before a failed sac bunt, and a double play ended the threat.

Brody Donay came through in the 8th inning with his 7th home run of the season to make it 4-2.

The continued emergence of Alex Philpott out of the bullpen was one of the other massive storylines on the night. He came in for the two-inning save, striking out five hitters to seal the deal.

Ty Evans and Colby Shelton both had two hits on the night.

Florida will now turn their attention to their final non-conference weekend series against Harvard. Kevin O'Sullivan said after the game that Aidan King will get a start in the series while Florida continues to evaluate an injury to Pierce Coppola. O'Sullivan also said that Kyle Jones is going to be out for the rest of the season.
