Outside of DJ Lagway's shoulder drama, spring practice has been mostly quiet for Florida Football. The Gators will take the field for their spring game on Saturday and head into the summer with hopes that things stay quiet around Gainesville.
But while the shoulder for Lagway continues to be a concern, Gator fans will live with him taking a rest in the spring compared to the sudden drama Tennessee fans find themselves in with their star QB.
Florida Football: Fire Nico
Pete Nakos of On3 reported that Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava was "active negotiations" with Tennessee regarding his NIL contract and added, "It remains unclear if those negotiations will impact Iamaleava's decision regarding the spring transfer portal."
Iamaleava's camp was quick to circle the wagons and try to call the report fake, but then word came out today from multiple sources that Iamaleava was not at practice today for Tennessee, and that was a surprise to the Tennessee coaching staff.
Iamaleava had 2,616 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, but as Chris Fallica of Fox Sports points out, 11 of those came against Chattanooga, UTEP, and Vanderbilt.
Last year he threw 19 TD. 11 came vs Chattanooga, UTEP and Vanderbilt. 4 of 9 in SEC play came vs Vandy. https://t.co/xg1jGGkI0U

Against Florida last year, he was 16-of-26 passing for 169 yards, no TDs and one interception.
Tennessee made the playoffs last season and was blown out by Ohio State in the first round. He was 14-of-31 passing for 104 yards and no TDs in that game.
So, if Iamaleava is genuinely trying to hold out for more money, there is little data to support that he deserves top-tier money.
If these reports are overblown and all is well in Knoxville, it's a giant headache that Volunteer fans still have to navigate as Tennessee is coming off its second-highest finish in the AP Poll since 2002.
In the modern era of college football, things move fast. But as it stands on April 11, Gator fans probably feel better about that state of things than Tennessee fans.
