After going 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA this spring, right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat was informed by Milwaukee Brewers manager, Pat Murphy on Saturday that he will be breaking camp on the big league roster.
OF Brandon Lockridge has been advised he has made the Brewers' Opening Day roster. RHP Brandon Sproat, acquired in the Freddy Peralta trade, will be on the Opening Day roster, too.

The 25-year old former Gator was traded from the Mets in January with shortstop Jett Williams in the trade that sent Freddy Peralta and right-handed pitcher Tobias Myers to New York. This spring Sproat appeared in three games (two starts). He gave up five earned runs on 10 hits (one home run), walked two, but struck out 10 over the course of nine innings. Though he had an issue preventing base runners and giving up runs, he had a 1.33 WHIP. He touched 97 mph on his fastball and his curveball was breaking well on the mound.
Those stats, combined with injuries the Brewers rotation are currently facing (Brandon Woodruff, Quinn Priester, and Kyle Harrison all on the injured list) were enough for the Brewers to give him the official call and a spot on the major league roster for opening day.
Prior to the spring Sproat pitched in four big league games for the Mets in 2025 (all four were starts). He was 0-2 with a 4.79 ERA. He pitched 20 2/3 innings, giving up 11 earned runs on 18 hits, walked seven, and he struck out 17. He had a 1.210 WHIP.
Sproat will take the mound for one final exhibition game this Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds in Milwaukee. From there, it is likely that he will throw opening weekend against the Chicago White Sox while Woodruff, Priester, and Harrison all continue to be out with injuries.
Once those players return from the injured list, Sproat could either come in in relief out of the bullpen or be sent to Triple-A Nashville for further development work.
But for now, the former Gator has made the big league roster to break camp.
