Former Florida Gator starting pitcher, Brandon Sproat is absolutely dominating Triple-A with the Mets’ affiliate Syracuse Mets. The 6’3”, 215lb right-hander is 7-5 with a 4.10 ERA through 22 starts in 2025. Over the course of 101 innings, he has 86 strikeouts and a 1.26 WHIP.
Sproat saw things really take off in July, going 2-0 with a 0.67 ERA on the month. Through five starts (27 innings), he gave up just two earned runs on 14 hits, eight walks and struck out 33. Opposing hitters batted just .152 against him, and he walked out of the month with a 0.81 ERA. Of those five starts, he pitched five shutouts in which he allowed no earned runs.
As a result of his stellar month, he was named Minor League Baseball International League Pitcher of the Month.
His best outing of the month and of his Triple-A season came on July 10 when he pitched seven shutout innings, giving up just three hits, one hit batter, one walk, and striking out four.
Three of his outings in July (July 4, July 19, and July 31) he struck out nine.
Most recently, on August 7 against the Charlotte Knights, Sproat threw another quality outing in which he pitched six innings, giving up three earned runs on three hits (one home run), two walks, and struck out four as he picked up the month of August right where he left off in July, just making the mistake on the one home run he gave up. Sproat needed just nine pitches (all strikes) to get threw the third inning and then 11 pitches to get through his final sixth inning of work.
Sproat, 24-years old is ranked as the Mets No. 5 organizational prospect according to MLB Pipeline and their No. 3 pitcher.
If he continues to dominate Triple-A like he has been, the former Gator could find himself making an MLB debut this season.
