After a decade long drought, Florida Basketball is back where it belongs and has made the Final Four for the first time since 2014. This is 6th total time the Gators have made it among the last four standing.
Before action tips off in San Antonio at 6:09, let's take a walk through Florida's previous five trips to the Final Four.
Florida Basketball: 1994
Florida's first appearance in the Final Four was in Charlotte in 1994 and their reward was a date with Duke, who had won the national title in 1991 and 1992 but were bounced early in 1993.
Led by Dan Cross and Craig Brown, Florida had a 13-point lead in the second, and even though they surrendered that lead, they retook the lead with 1:36 left on an Andrew DeClercq tip.
But Duke proved to be too much and when Cross was called for a charge with 10 seconds left, the door was shut on Florida and they lost 70-65.
2000
After surviving a first-round upset bid to Butler, Florida made its second Final Four in 2000.
After a tight first half, Florida was able to power away from North Carolina in the second half to win 71-59.
Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem both chipped in with 10 points, but it was the 13 points from Brett Nelson off the bench that led the scoring for the Gators.
Florida would go on to lose to Michigan State in the title game.
2006
George Mason came into the 2006 Final Four as one of the all-time Cinderella stories.
The 2006 Florida Gators squad wasn't in the mood for fairy tales. It was a one-point game with four minutes to go in the first half before the Gators squeezed the life out of the Patriots.
Corey Brewer and Lee Humphrey both had 19 points as Florida cruised to a 73-58 victory.
The Gators would go on to beat UCLA in the championship game to win their first national title.
2007
The rematch against UCLA in the 2007 Final Four really wasn't that competitive, especially in the back half of the second half. UCLA pulled within four points one minute into the second half before the Gators held the Bruins scoreless for a nearly five-minute stretch.
Corey Brewer had 19 points and Chris Richard had 16 points coming off the bench.
Florida would beat Ohio State in the finals to secure back-to-back titles.
2014
The one most Gator fans would like to forget. Florida came in with a 30-game winning streak and shot out to a 16-4 lead ten minutes into the game against UConn.
Florida scored just six more points in the first half.
Florida was within three with eight minutes to play and still was within six points with four minutes to play, but the magic died, and Florida lost 63-53 to end their historic season.
