It's probably safe to call K.J. Ford a "soft" commit to Florida right now.

The 4-star edge rusher out of Duncanville, Texas is still committed to the Gators, but he's looking around and has made no secret of that. And now with the reports that Billy Napier could be out as soon as tomorrow, Ford's future with Florida may hinge on whom the Gators' next head coach is.

What's the situation with Billy Napier?

Ford just wants to know what the rest of us want to know. What's the deal with Billy Napier and, if he is fired, who do the people associated with Gator football have in mind to replace him? The list of prospective coaches got shorter when Curt Cignetti signed a huge extension with Indiana on Thursday.

Word has been released that Napier is expected to be fired tomorrow, regardless of the results of today's game against Mississippi State. Whether Napier coaches out the rest of the year remains to be seen, but it seems like that decision has been made. So what's the next step for Florida football?

Ford has been looking closer to home

Ford went to College Station last week to watch Florida play Texas A&M, but was he there to watch the Gators or was he there to check out the Aggies, who would be one of the several schools interested in the blue-chip prospect if he hits the open market. It was Ford's second trip to Texas A&M over the past few weeks. He also has a trip planned to USC when the Trojans host UCLA later in the season.

It doesn't seem like Ford is going to stay committed once Napier is dismissed as expected. But the Gators have to hope the edge rusher will stay interested in Florida once a new coach is announced.
