Florida Football: Gators offer Kansas State DB from transfer portal
Florida football head coach Billy Napier was critiqued last season for being slow to react to the transfer portal and fill the needs of the Gators.
With no bowl game to worry about this time around, Napier has no excuse not to hit the ground running. As such, Florida has already offered a defensive back out of Kansas State.
Florida Football: The Blanket
Will “The Blanket” Lee was a JUCO prospect originally from St. Louis. Coming out of high school in the class of 2021, Lee was a lower rated three-star cornerback who wound up going to Iowa Western C.C.
After two seasons in JUCO, Lee was a part of Kansas State this season.
Listed at 6’3″ and 185 pounds, Lee took 453 snaps on the field in 2023. He was targeted 36 times on 254 snaps in pass coverage, and he gave up 23 receptions for 406 yards.
Lee is high on the list of plenty of teams, as USC, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Washington, and Auburn have all offered Lee in addition to Florida football.
He played almost all of his snaps along the corner. With the status of Jason Marshall and Jalen Kimber still unknown heading into 2024, Napier and crew will be looking for ways to beef of a secondary that was torched all season long.
The Florida Gators let go of secondary coach Corey Raymond at the end of the season, and there are rumblings that Napier is targeting Will Harris, an assistant defensive backs coach for the LA Chargers, to be the replacement heading into 2024.
The sooner Napier can find a replacement, the sooner Napier can sell the Gator dream to those in the transfer portal.
