Florida football, along with the rest of the country, is about to get very active in the transfer portal with it officially opening up this morning.

One name that we could see Florida potentially reach out to was committed to the Gators in the class of 2021 before flipping out of it and going to a rival SEC program.

Bryce Langston, a former 4-star recruit, has been at LSU for the past two seasons but is now entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.

Looking for some depth along the defensive line, we could see the Gators get involved with Langston for the second time.

Florida football: Familiarity is already there

Langston was recruited to Florida out of high school by Dan Mullen’s staff and was committed to the Gators for about six months before breaking it off.

So while the coaching staff in Gainesville is different than the one that Bryce knew out of high school, he’s already familiar with the program and the school, which could give the Gators an advantage.

During his time with LSU, Langston didn’t see a whole lot of playing time. Over the past two seasons, he has a total of three tackles and half a sack.

But the Gators may not be in a position to turn DL players away in the portal. Chris McClellan hitting the transfer portal is a legitimate hit to their depth in the trenches, and Napier knows he needs another body in there.

At 6’3”-300, Langston would be a valuable addition to a DL room that needs a couple more guys in it.

We don’t know how aggressive Florida is going to be going after Bryce yet, and there haven’t been any leaks about where he wants to go.

But the Gators seem to be in a spot where they could be a legitimate contender for his services out of the portal.
