The transfer portal is open for business, and the number of Florida football players entering the portal continues to grow.

Overnight, defensive tackle Chris McClellan announced that he would be entering the portal.

Florida Football: Back Home

McClellan was a top 100 prospect from Oklahoma in the class of 2022. He initially committed to the Gators while the school was still transitioning from Dan Mullen and had yet to announce Billy Napier as the new coach.

McClellan made headlines last season when asked about the slew of transfers the Gators had last offseason.

"“No disrespect to Coach Mullen, but from what I’ve heard from the older guys, they had a lot more leniency with the last staff than they do with this staff”"

This season, McClellan had 295 snaps, second most among interior defensive linemen. He was credited with 16 tackles, eight hurries, and one sack. Pro Football Focus graded him as Florida’s 17th best defensive player.

With Caleb Banks and Cam Jackson slated to return for next season, along with Florida looking for a new defensive line coach after letting go Sean Spencer, McClellan’s usage for 2024 was unclear.

In his post on X, McClellan was complimentary of the Gators and Billy Napier.
