Florida Football: Kyle Trask makes cameo appearance with the Bucs
Since being drafted to the NFL, former Florida football quarterback Kyle Trask has never really had an opportunity to step on the field for a meaningful game. After spending two years behind Tom Brady, the Tampa Bay Buccanneers opted to bring Baker Mayfield to town, and Trask has been stuck on the bench again.
Yesterday, against the Indianapolis Colts, Mayfield was briefly injured, and in a story as old as time, the Bucs failed to help Trask out.
Florida Football: What is it going to take
Tampa got down to the one-yard line and attempted a QB sneak with Mayfield. The Bucs were stopped short, and Mayfield appeared to injure his ankle on the play.
Trask entered the game, and the Bucs promptly took a false start. Facing 3rd and goal from the four-yard line, Trask attempted a back corner throw to star receiver Chris Godwin. It was a catchable ball for an elite receiver but it wasn’t caught.
As has been the case for Trask, he can’t seem to get any assistance from his wide receivers. Constantly in the preseason, Tampa receivers dropped passes that would hit them square in the hands.
Mayfield returned the next offensive series, but Tampa lost 27-20 to fall to 4-7 on the season.
