Florida Football: Nasir Johnson becomes the third flip away from Gators
Florida football has lost another top-tier prospect, this time to the Georgia Bulldogs, with the flip of four-star defensive lineman Nasir Johnson.
The Dublin, Georgia native had been committed to the Florida Gators since June but decided to make the switch to Georgia after a recent visit.
Florida Football: Do a flip
Johnson took to social media to express his gratitude to the Florida coaching staff but revealed that, after careful consideration and discussions with his family, he had decided to flip his commitment to the University of Georgia.
The Bulldogs’ pursuit of Johnson intensified recently, culminating in an official visit to Athens during the Ole Miss game.
Listed at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, Johnson is noted for his versatility and athleticism.
This commitment boosts Georgia’s already top-ranked 2024 recruiting class, which now includes ten top-75 prospects, including six standout defensive linemen. Johnson, ranked as the No. 75 overall player and the 14th-ranked defensive lineman, only adds more depth and talent to a stacked Bulldogs roster.
While Georgia celebrates this recruiting win, Florida football faces the challenge of managing decommitments, including Johnson, as they drop in the team rankings. The Gators’ 2024 class, once ranked No. 3, has slipped due to a recent string of decommitments following a three-game losing streak.
Johnson joins Jamonta Waller and Wardell Mack as players to flip their commitment since Saturday, with Amaris Williams believed to be flipping his commitment from Florida to Ohio State soon.
