Through all the frustration Florida football has on the field right now, the saving grace for Billy Napier is that he has been recruiting at a level not seen in Gainesville for over a decade. The Gators have assembled a top-five recruiting class for 2024, and even if Florida finishes 5-7, Napier will get to at least usher his group onto campus.

So the news of Jamonta Waller flipping from Florida to Auburn isn’t great, but the Gators have multiple other great players still coming to Gainesville.

If more players start to flip though…

Florida Football: Get to the finish line

The saga of Waller is one Gator fans will remember for a while. When he committed to Florida, it was noted how foolish it was that one of the four main recruiting services had him as a three-star while others listed him as a five.

Flip rumors started really gaining steam a couple of weeks ago, and by yesterday morning, it was accepted by Gators fans that Waller was going to flip.

The good news for Florida is that in the 247 Composite rankings, they are still 4th. On3 still has Florida 3rd. If Waller is the only flip to occur, Billy Napier and crew can survive that.

But as the Gators have sunk to a 5-5 record with a collapsing defense, rumors of others flipping are abound. We here at Hail Florida Hail try to avoid the message board rumor machine and let others with more insider knowledge than ours figure it out.

But we will state that if more flips do occur and the Gators fall out of the top ten for the class of 2024, Napier’s clock will accelerate significantly, and his seat will officially be scolding heading into 2024.

On paper, Napier has gone about building the Gators the correct way. He’s built up a recruiting monster, and if he can string classes together, the Gators will be set up for success for a long time.

But if his Death Ray Machine falls apart before it is even built, Florida football will be right back where it started.

dark. Next. The defense has collapsed once again
