Florida football is seeing its conference and annual schedule change a decent bit with the realignment that is coming in 2024.

While they’ve been impacted by the changes that are happening in the SEC, there haven’t been any discussions about the Gators themselves making a move, and there still aren’t any.

But, something interesting came up when Oddspedia was surveying ACC fans about realignment and what schools they would want to see their conference add.

According to that survey, Florida is the school that most ACC fans would want to add.

Florida football: I guess it makes the most sense

Aside from the fact that it takes away from rivalries and traditions, one of the biggest critiques of realignment is that it just doesn’t make any geographical sense.

But, if the Gators hypothetically did move to the ACC, at least the map wouldn’t get too messed up. Plus, they would retain/regain some rivalries.

It would make Florida conference opponents with both FSU and Miami, making those rivalries even more heated than they are now.

But, on the other side of this, we all know that Florida isn’t going anywhere.

In this same survey, 28.6% of fans said that they would want their school to move to the SEC, which was the highest percentage any conference received.

There’s no reason for any school to leave the SEC and tons of reasons for other schools to want to join. Revenues are higher, there are more eyes on them, and it’s the best conference in football.

It seems that the sport is trending in the direction of two or three mega conferences, as opposed to having the Power 5 like we have in the past.

But, if all else fails, it seems the Gators have a fallback in the ACC to stay afloat.
