Florida basketball: Gators have the fourth best odds to win the SEC
By Will Thomas
Florida basketball has been in a bit of a lull over the past few seasons, without a real run in the postseason for a long time.
This season, however, there is a little more optimism around the program with all of the talent that Todd Golden has brought in, and the key guys he was able to get to stick around.
With all the potential that this roster has, people are taking note of what the Gators could pull off this season in Golden’s second season.
The Gators have the fourth-best odds to win the SEC regular season title.
Florida basketball: Ready to cause some chaos
College basketball is a sport filled with chaos. Half of the games have winners that don’t even make any sense, which makes it a beautiful, beautiful sport.
The Gators are in a position to cause some chaos this winter and take a conference title away from some teams that figure to be some of the best in the country.
Here’s the full list of each team’s odds to win the SEC:
In a conference with as much top-to-bottom talent as the SEC, being No. 4 in the preseason poll is a sign that the smart heads out in Vegas and a lot of people around the country have confidence that Florida will turn it around this season.
A lot of UF’s success is going to fall on the shoulders of Riley Kugel. Kugel is expected to be one of the best players in the SEC this season and the leader of this Gators’ team.
The defensive contributions of Tyrese Samuel will also be a storyline to watch. The Seton Hall transfer will take on a bigger role now that EJ Jarvis retired from basketball, and will play a big role in the paint all season.
The Gators have a chance this year to turn the ship around and make some noise not just in the SEC, but to put the whole country on notice.
