One of the hallmarks of Florida football recruiting under Billy Napier has been the insistence to get guys with speed. Tre Wilson is the first of what Gators fans hope is a long lineage of burners to take the field in Gainesville.

One of those commitments from the 2024 class showcased his speed in full force over the weekend, with a particular Gator target not far behind him.

Florida Football: Burning rubber

Jerrae Hawkins committed to Florida back in June.

When Florida football first offered Hawkins, we said:

"“Hawkins is listed at 5’9″ and 165 pounds. But is lack of size is more than compensated for by his pure speed. He has a verified track speed with a personal best in the 100-meter dash of 10.37 seconds, which he ran at the Texas Relays this season. He currently has the fourth fastest time in all of Florida and could legit say screw it to football and be a sub-10 by the end of college if he focused solely on track. On the field though, his speed is immediate on film. He doesn’t necessarily make catches with regularity that one would say are of high difficulty, but he is often wide open because no one else has the speed to keep up with him.”"

That was evident on Friday with his IMG squad as Hawkins caught a ball at the line of scrimmage and ran untouched for an 85-yard touchdown.

In the clip, did you catch the offensive lineman booking it down the field too to clear the way for Hawkins?

That was Florida target Jordan Seaton.

Seaton is the top-rated offensive tackle in the country by three of the four main recruiting services. Florida has been pushing hard to get Seaton and is at the one position the Gators haven’t really locked up in this class. Seaton took his official visit to Gainesville on October 6, but there are no official predictions as to where he will wind up.

Next. Billy Napier's foundation has a crack in it. dark
