Florida Football Recruiting: Da’Saahn Brame just keeps getting open
One of the perceived weak spots for Florida football is at their tight end. Gator fans were spoiled with Kyle Pitts and have been trying to find the next elite one ever since. Arlis Boardingham is making strides, but Florida needs to keep bringing in top-level talent.
The Gators’ most recent stop to find that tight end is in Kansas, as Florida offered a four-star prospect out of the state yesterday.
Florida Football: We are in fact in Kansas
Da’Saahn Brame is a 6’6″ and 225-pound tight end out of Derby, KS (just south of Wichita). He is a consensus four-star prospect from all four services, with 247 Sports rating him the highest at 191st overall in the class of 2025.
Brame uses his frame to snatch balls away from defenders with ease. Even when someone is man-to-man on him, they never seem to have a chance on any kind of 50-50 ball.
But Brame also finds constant ways to just be wide open. Some of that is his route running and play recognition when he can settle in open space and let his QB find him. Some of it is from running go routes out of the slot and opposing safeties having no idea what to do to stop him.
And while he doesn’t show it as much on his mid-season junior year film, he has a number of clips from his sophomore year showing that he is a willing blocker when asked to be one.
The question marks for Brame would be how his game translates to what Florida football wants to do. Billy Napier utilizes a lot of tight ends but typically doesn’t have them in the slot with the frequency Brame is used. Plus, one has to factor in the level of competition he is facing in Kansas and whether Brame will make that leap in the SEC.
Brame has been getting numerous offers recently, including from Alabama, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss. Both of his parents played sports at Kansas State University. His father was a linebacker for the Wildcats, while his mother was on the basketball team, so it might be hard getting him out of Kansas.
He is a worthwhile prospect to follow in a position of need and one Florida should continue to pursue.
