Florida football recruiting, as we’ve been talking about for several months now, is putting together one of the best 2024 recruiting classes in the country.

It is currently ranked third in the country per On3 and is making a push toward the top spot with a couple of high-level targets still on its board.

But this class that Billy Napier is bringing in isn’t just an impressive feat he can brag about for a couple of years.

This class is already a historic one for the Florida Gators and has the chance to be legendary as the years go on.

Florida football recruiting: Making history one commit at a time

The Gators’ 2024 class, without being completed yet, is the third highest-rated class that Florida has brought in throughout its history.

In fact, it’s only 0.4 points away from being the second-best class that the Gators have ever brought in, which one more commit will take care of easily.

The Gators have 22 guys already committed, with a 77% blue-chip ratio, among the best in the country.

It’s headlined by 5-star QB DJ Lagway, who’s also rated as the 17th-best player in the country. Florida made a huge splash with LJ McCray over the weekend, and have had Xavier Filsaime locked in for a couple of months.

I could go on and on for a long time listing the elite players coming into Gainesville in this class, but I won’t take your time rattling them off.

The significance of this class goes beyond just raw talent coming into the system. It shows that even without elite on-field results, recruits are buying into what Napier is selling them.

He’s rebuilding the Gators’ culture, and he’s doing it fast. It isn’t going to be a long time before the Gators are back near the top of the league.
