Florida Football Recruiting: Gators go west to offer WR Lamason Waller
We have been chronicling how Florida football has been dipping its toe into Georgia in its latest string of offers, but for the most part, their offers have stuck to the southeast. Florida’s roster only has 24 players from west of the Mississippi River and only one from California (Arlis Boardingham).
This week, the Gators showed they do still have eyes on the Golden State as they offered a class of 2025 wide receiver.
Florida Football: The Lamason Waller effect
Lamason Waller is listed 6’2″ and 170 pounds out of Hesperia, CA (just north of San Bernadino). Three of the four services rank him as a four-star prospect, with ESPN ranking him as a three-star. However, all four services have him rated in the 200s nationally among 2025 prospects.
On film, Waller has subtle speed with some shifty moves that make him hard to bring down. He doesn’t create as much separation as other receivers we see on film, but he is frequently comfortable catching the ball up high when in traffic or using his body to box out opposing defensive backs.
When in the open field, he finds a way to make guys miss, and he’s not afraid to be physical when asked to block downfield.
Waller is a two-time MaxPreps All-American. His rating in the 200s nationally is probably fair. It feels like sometimes it takes a second or two for his speed to rev up versus some other guys we have seen who look like they are shot out of a cannon.
Waller had a flurry of offers in March, including Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Michigan. Alabama offered him back in May. Since then, it has been quiet as Florida football is the first school to offer since May.
