As Florida football continues to add to its 2024 recruiting class, one of the key cogs to the talent that the Gators anticipate on campus next season is EDGE player Jamonta Waller.

But as early signing day is approaching, rumors are starting to swirl that Waller is a flip target to a fellow SEC school.

Florida Football: The On3 Waller Effect

As a quick recap, Waller is a five-star prospect in the eyes of ESPN, a top 50 prospect from 247, a top 100 prospect from Rivals, and On3 doesn’t have him in the top 300 at all.

So, take a wild guess which of those four services is starting to run with a narrative that Waller could flip to the Auburn Tigers.

The basis for On3 to predict that Waller will flip from Florida football is that he was in Auburn for the game against Ole Miss over the weekend. And this was indeed Waller’s second visit to Jordan-Hare Stadium in less than a month.

Sure, it raises eyebrows and is worth monitoring. But it feels like a bit of a stretch to go from two visits where he didn’t want to speak with anyone in the media to go:

"“Florida will not let him go easily, and there is no timeline for a possible announcement, but it is my opinion that the Tigers have the edge right now”"

As we have seen with Jeremiah Smith, visits don’t equate to flips. And just last week, Waller spoke with 247 and said he was happy with his commitment to the Gators.

Could Waller flip? Anything is possible in the world of recruiting.

But to run to the presses, without any quotes from his camp about his experience at Auburn a week after he said he was happy with Florida, and use this weekend as the evidence for a thesis is flimsy at best.
