Florida Football: Shane Beamer breaks foot during loss to Gators
Maybe it is a byproduct of everyone in the national media saying how terrible Florida football would be this season, but South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer was not having a great time in Columbia on Saturday. His post-game comments were one of a man unwilling to look in the mirror as to why his team is sitting at 2-4 after plenty of preseason buzz.
As they say, when it rains, it pours, and it turns out that tackles by South Carolina weren’t the only broken things on Saturday.
Florida Football: One foot forward
During the game, Beamer got frustrated with his team’s performance on defense. Most coaches might throw a clipboard, headset, or hat like normal people.
"“It was after the game, and certainly that was a gut-wrenching and emotional loss,” Beamer told reporters. “I was frustrated and kicked something I shouldn’t have kicked and thought I was OK, and then the adrenaline of the game wore off.”“”Before anyone starts the narrative like the head football coach is frustrated and lost his poise and all that — no, I care. I care about these kids, and I was really upset on Saturday night because I didn’t do enough to help them get over the hump and win the football game,” said Beamer”"
We’re not quite sure this is what South Carolina fans want when referring to “Beamer Ball.”
Beamer has been getting raked over the coals for his overall response to the loss. He essentially threw his entire team under the bus during his post-game press conference. It’s yet another, we’ll say, interesting post-game press conference Beamer has had during this tenure with South Carolina.
