Florida Football: Fromer Gator star involved in pregame MNF scuffle
Former Florida football defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. was involved in a pregame scuffle between the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.
The incident occurred while both teams warmed up on the field before the game. Cowboys players ran through a drill that Chargers defensive backs were conducting, leading to an exchange of words between Los Angeles safety Dean Marlowe and Dallas defensive tackle Mazi Smith.

As the scuffle escalated, Fowler appeared to punch Chargers running back Austin Ekeler, knocking off Ekeler’s helmet before the officiating crew and the coaching staff from both teams came in to break up the fight.
Fowler, a St. Petersburg native, played three seasons at Florida and earned first-team all-SEC honors as a junior in 2014 after racking up 15 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Fowler is in his ninth season in the NFL and his second season with the Cowboys. Last season, he had 27 tackles and six sacks. The sack total was the third-highest in a season in his professional career. He has one sack and four tackles in Dallas’ first five games this season.
The Cowboys went on to win the game against the Chargers 20-17.
