One of the clear juxtapositions that exist with Florida football under Billy Napier has been their performance at home vs. their performance on the road.

Under the bright lights of The Swamp, Florida has looked like a top-25 team. Once asked to get on a plane, everything falls apart.

Heading into a crucial road matchup as underdogs against South Carolina, Napier said they are making some tweaks to try and break the cycle.

Florida Football: Everyone has a plan…

One of the unfortunate stats under Napier is that Florida has only won once on the road in the last year and a half when they knocked off Texas A&M. Beyond that, goose eggs.

At his press conference, Napier said they are making some changes this week to try and address the road struggles.

"“We’re going to try and get to Colombia a little bit earlier this week. We’ve been tweaking our schedule on Thursday. We’re going to put a huge emphasis on sleep Wednesday night. We’re going to arrive to the stadium a little bit earlier.I think ultimatley there is a pulse of the players you have to take into account. Most of it’s mental. I just met with the accountability group and we talked about mentally being prepared, physically being prepared, but also emotionally being prepared. We’ve got to anticipate and vizualize what it’s going to be like. That it will be challenging. There will be ups and downs in the game. Our dialouge during the week is about being prepared to respond.”"

This is where Mike Tyson enters to say that everyone has a plan before they get punched in the mouth. It’s one thing to visualize Sandstorm playing over and over, but it’s another to actually pick oneself off the mat and punch back as it is happening.

Florida didn’t respond well against Kentucky and, at times, looked like it wanted to be anywhere in the world except Lexington.

Win or lose, Florida football will get back on the plane and fly home to Gainesville. They just need to be reminded plane rides are more fun when you win.
