Florida football is about a week removed from an embarrassing loss on the road at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats.

The Gators come back home to welcome in the 2-4 Vanderbilt Commodores, in what figures to be a good bounce-back spot.

The Gators are the heavy favorites in this one. So heavy, in fact, that it almost seems nonsensical to confidently take Florida to cover based on what we’ve seen from them.

Here’s a full betting preview for Florida’s matchup with the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Florida football vs. Vanderbilt odds, spread, and total

The spread opened up at -19.5 for Florida early in the season but dropped down to -18.5 when game week rolled around and has stayed there the whole time.

The over/under is right at 52, which is a little higher than we’re used to seeing for this Gators team that doesn’t have much explosiveness on offense.

The money line doesn’t have a whole lot of value if you’re a UF bettor, with the Gators at -1100 and the Commodores way out at +680

Florida football vs. Vanderbilt key players to watch

Florida Gators

Treyaun Webb: With Trevor Etienne’s status in question, Webb will likely get a heavier workload this week. We saw him do well against McNeese State when he got 14 carries, but we haven’t seen him against SEC competition yet.

Eugene Wilson: Wilson was a nonfactor last weekend, but now with Caleb Douglas out after suffering a lower leg injury last week, Eugene will have to step up and return to his previous levels of production.

Shemar James: James had a good day against Kentucky, and he should be able to feast on Vanderbilt’s offense and help keep them stagnant in The Swamp.

Vanderbilt Commodores

AJ Swann: The ‘Dores QB has already tossed seven interceptions this season, so the Gators’ secondary will probably have a couple of chances to force a turnover and give Florida some momentum.

London Humphreys: London has 12 catches on the year and averages 24.9 yards per reception. The Gators will need to prevent him from making explosive plays that could keep Vandy in the game.

CJ Taylor: Vandy’s leading tackler at LB has forced two fumbles and sacked the QB three times. He’ll have to be accounted for in order for Florida’s offense to flow efficiently.

Florida football vs. Vanderbilt Prediction and Pick

As referenced earlier in the piece, this is a lot of points for the Gators to be favored by, especially over an SEC team.

It is worth noting that Vandy has scored zero points over their last two trips to The Swamp and have lost those two by a combined score of 98-0 though.

Even with that in mind, I have to put what I want to happen aside and predict what will actually happen.

Hail Florida Hail’s week five picks:

Vanderbilt +18.5.

Under 52.
