Florida football may have not looked all too impressive against Charlotte two weeks ago, but the game may have featured their highlight of the season, and perhaps the college football season as a whole.

About halfway through the first quarter, Mertz threw a seam route to Ricky Pearsall, and he went up and made the catch of the year.

With NIL now in full force, Ricky is capitalizing on that catch and has launched merchandise on his personal website featuring that photo.

Florida football: Catch of the year

It’s hard to imagine a catch that will outdo Ricky’s, given the way he caught it and the fact that he got targeted on the way down and still held onto the ball.

Pearsall is smartly utilizing that play to further spread his brand and capitalize on NIL.

You can find Ricky’s website here if you want to look at the merch for yourself.

He’s putting the silhouette of the grab on t-shirts, hoodies, and zip-ups. He has plenty of other items on his site for sale as well, but it’s hard to ignore the items with his catch on them.

So far on the season, Ricky has caught 29 passes for 424 yards and two touchdowns. He’s averaging 14.6 yards per reception and had his best game against McNeese State when he caught six passes for 123 yards and a score.

After transferring over from Arizona State before last season, Pearsall immediately became the top receiver the Gators had and has continued to be a veteran leader into this fall.

As I said earlier, I don’t think there are many receivers in the country who can make the catch that he did. Seeing him use that grab to expand his NIL brand is awesome to see, and shows the bright side of NIL in college sports.
