Florida football recruiting is very aggressive on the trail as they look to finalize their 2024 class with the addition of a few more elite players.

They’ve hosted tons of top talent on campus these past couple of weeks, including one surprise visitor who’s committed to FSU.

Charles Lester III, who’s rated as the No. 2 corner in the nation, was in The Swamp this weekend for Florida’s game against Charlotte and now has plans to make an official visit later this season.

If Billy Napier and the Gators can make a push for Lester, they’ll make a move toward the top overall class in the country.

Florida football recruiting: So you’re saying there’s a chance?

The Gators were never really in it for Lester throughout his recruitment. It was always the Noles at the top followed by the likes of Georgia, Alabama, and Colorado.

But now all of a sudden it seems like there’s lots of familiarity between Lester and UF, and that they’ve been in contact for a lot longer than we all thought.

He told 247:

"“We’ve been lowkey, like out of any school, they’re the only ones I’ve been talking to.”"

Later on, he told Corey Bender of On3 that he knows he’ll be making another trip back to Gainesville for an official visit in December.

All of a sudden, it feels like the Gators are alive in the hunt for Lester. He’s ranked as the 22nd-best player in the country and the fourth-best player coming out of Florida per On3’s Industry Ranking.

Finding a way to flip Lester from the Noles would launch the Gators’ class up to right around the No. 1 spot in the country, and be a huge blow to Mike Norvell and FSU’s class as well.

Napier hasn’t backed down from any fight on the trail yet, and I don’t think he’s going to start now.
