Florida football: Which freshmen have had the greatest impact?

Florida football true freshmen No. 1: Jordan Castell
Everyone was surprised when Jordan Castell was listed as the starting safety over Kamari Wilson when week one rolled around.
But after three weeks leading the Gators’ secondary, it’s no wonder why Jordan earned starting honors in his freshman season.
Through three games Castell has played 136 snaps, which is the most of anybody on the defense, 16 tackles, a pass breakup, and has only surrendered 46 total yards in coverage.
He’s also a very disciplined tackler for a defender his age, only missing two tackles so far, which is an 8.3 rate.
He might have had the biggest pass breakup of the game last week against Tennessee as well in the second half.
It’s no easy feat to come into the University of Florida and bear the responsibility of being a starting safety the moment you strap on your helmet.
Castell has come in and made it look easy. He was named Freshman of the Week after his stellar performance against the Vols, and I’m sure that won’t be the last award or honor he takes home.
Jordan is here to continue the tradition of Florida football being DBU. He’ll be one of the best DBs in the conference this season, and will only improve over the next two years.
