Florida vs. Tennessee prediction, odds, spread and over/under for College Football Week 3
By Will Thomas
Florida football is two days away from hosting the Tennessee Volunteers in The Swamp as they open up SEC play on Saturday night in prime time.
This game could go a long way in defining how the rest of the Gators’ season goes and should be a fun one to watch regardless of who you’re cheering for.
The Gators will enter this game as home underdogs against the Vols, although there may be some movement that favors Florida as we get closer to game time.
Here is a full betting preview of the Gators’ matchup with Tennessee.
Florida football vs. Tennessee odds, spread, and total
After opening up as 7.5-point underdogs, the Gators now sit at +6.5. This movement down to below a touchdown shows that there is some confidence around Vegas that the Gators are well-suited to make this one a closer game than originally thought.
The over/under is currently set at 58.5, which is down from where it opened at 63. A lower-scoring game figures to favor the Gators in this one, so that number trending down is a good sign.
If you’re interested in some value on the money line, you can get the Gators at an even +200, while you’ll have to pay up if you want the Vols who are at -250.

Florida football vs. Tennessee key players to watch
Florida Gators
Kingsley Eguakun: Kingsley is the most experienced guy that the Gators have in their OL room, and is making his season debut this weekend after missing the first two games with an injury. He’ll bring poise and power to an offensive line that wants to run the football.
Eugene Wilson III: Gators fans have gotten a taste of what Wilson can do just two games into his young career, and Billy Napier has said that they want to get the ball in his hands as much as they can. Expect to see a lot of him this weekend.
Shemar James: James has been arguably the best player on a very solid Gators’ defense, and has been an absolute tackle machine through two weeks. If he can keep up his current level of production, Florida will be in a great spot on that side of the ball.
Tennessee Volunteers
Bru McCoy: McCoy came into this year figuring to be one of Joe Milton’s top pass catchers, but has been quiet so far this season. He may be looking to break out in week one of SEC play, and the Gators’ secondary will have to limit him down the field.
Jaylen Wright: Wright and Jabari Small are a tandem RB duo, but Wright has been the superior back to this point rushing for 9.3 yards per carry. Florida’s front will have to slow him down if they want to get off the field.
Aaron Beasley: Beasley is the Vols’ leading tackler through two weeks with 12, and has a pair of sacks to go along with it. Florida will have to prevent him from having a big day if they want to move the football.
Florida football vs. Tennessee Prediction and Pick
This game will give you a finish just about every time. If there’s ever a blowout, it’s because the home team is just on another level than the road team.
But this year, the home team is the underdog that has something to prove. The Gators know that they need to win this game if they want any chance of having a successful season.
With all that on the line and a rowdy Swamp behind them, I think the Gators will get the job done. But even if they don’t they’ll keep it very, very close.
Hail Florida Hail’s week three picks:
Florida +6.5.
Under 58.5.
