Florida football is undergoing a major youth movement, with lots of underclassmen seeing meaningful action over and over again this fall.

One of those young guys seeing a lot of action is Eugene Wilson III, the speedy wide receiver that Gator fans had been excited to see all summer.

Now, with two games of experience under his belt, it’s clear that Billy Napier and the coaches want to get him the ball as much as possible.

Talking about Wilson, Napier said, “Every week we need to find ways for him to touch it.”

Florida football: Big-time players make big-time plays

Outside of the running game, a lot of people were unsure where the explosiveness and firepower would come from in this Florida offense.

With a new QB in Graham Mertz and a lot of question marks in the receiver room, it seemed that the Gators would live and die by the ground.

While that is still true to an extent, Eugene has unlocked another dimension for the Gators’ offense and is quickly becoming a featured player on the field.

It only took him one week to vault himself up to a starter on Florida’s depth chart, and all signs point to him seeing more and more action each week.

He’s yet to find his way into the endzone, but there’s just something different about him when he has the ball in his hands.

Against Utah in week one he caught two passes for 24 yards and had a nine-yard rush, and followed that up with a four-catch performance against McNeese State for 36 yards, and also had an 18-yard rush.

His speed, explosiveness, and agility are what made him so appealing as a recruit, and remains his best abilities on the field.

There isn’t anyone in the country who can take him down one-on-one in space, and Gator fans can expect to see a whole lot more of him as the season progresses.
