Florida Football Confidence Meter Week 6: Vanderbilt

  • Last Season: Vanderbilt won 31-24
  • HFH Confidence Meter Preseason: 90%
  • HFH Confidence Meter Last Week: 95%
  • HFH Confidence Meter Presently: 90%

After starting out the season 2-0, Vanderbilt was brought back to a feeling it is used to and was handed its first loss of the season against Wake Forest.

To Vanderbilt’s credit, they were feisty in this game and pulled within 13 points with 11 minutes to play to leave some level of doubt about the final outcome.

It’s hard, though, to evaluate how good Wake Forest actually is in 2023. Last season, they were 8-5, with a win over FSU, and they took Clemson to 2OT before losing.

That was with Sam Hartman, though and he is gone. FCS Elon lost to Wake by about the same score that Vanderbilt did (37-17).

Through three games, Vanderbilt can’t run the ball as they are 100th in yards per carry (3.0 yards per carry). They are also getting sacked on 6.76% of passing attempts, 83rd in the country.

Because of the feisty effort, we will lower our confidence by a tick, but we still have full faith in the Gators.
