Florida football recruiting has taken the backseat over the past couple of weeks with the football season officially starting, at least from a fan’s point of view.
But Billy Napier and his coaches haven’t taken their foot off the gas in their pursuit of one of the top 2024 classes in the country.
One guy who has been instrumental throughout the entire cycle is 5-star QB DJ Lagway, who in addition to the skillset he’s bringing to The Swamp, has been in the ear of every big-time recruit that the Gators are going after.
Now, with games underway, Lagway is taking multiple trips to Gainesville for gamedays and is scheduled to be in town this weekend for the Tennessee game.
Florida football recruiting: Full-court press
Lagway has arguably been a more relentless recruiter than some coaches on the Gators’ staff in the 2024 cycle. That isn’t even a slight to any of the coaches, it’s just a compliment to how active DJ has been recruiting other elite players to join him in Florida.
His effort had been relentless all summer, and now he’s showing us that he isn’t taking his foot off the gas now that the season has started either.
He was in town for Florida’s opener against McNeese State last week and will be back in four days for their matchup with the Vols.
Making all these trips while still being one of the best quarterbacks in the state of Texas is a pretty impressive feat.
DJ’s commitment to being in Gainesville this much also reaffirms what we’ve been saying all summer. Napier is doing a great job of recruiting guys who want to be Gators and is locking them down to secure his class as soon as he possibly can.
We don’t have a full visitors list for the game this weekend yet, but whoever shows up won’t leave without taking to DJ first.
