Florida football recruiting still isn’t done assembling its 2024 recruiting class, which still sits right near the top of the country.

The Gators’ class is third in the country and second in the SEC, but Billy Napier and the coaching staff aren’t satisfied.

For months they’ve been pushing hard to flip Dealyn Evans from the Texas A&M Aggies, which would be a massive addition to their impressive defensive class.

After a few weeks of silence on that front, the Gators have emerged as the top flip candidate for the top ten defensive lineman.

Florida football recruiting: Maintain the pipeline

We’ve talked a lot about how Billy Napier and the Gators are doing a great job of going into Texas and taking some of the top talent from the Lone Star State. Given how many great players are there, recruiting them at a high level will lead to great results.

Evans is certainly one of those guys you want to press hard for.

On3’s Industry Ranking has Dealyn ranked as the 66th-best player in the country, the 10th-best DL in the 2024 class, and the 12th-best player coming out of Texas.

Evans committed to the Aggies in July of last year but has taken two trips to Gainesville since then, including an official visit in June.

On3 reported today that the Gators are the school that’s pushing the hardest to flip Evans from the Aggies, so Napier and his guys haven’t given up on snatching him from Jimbo Fisher yet.

A lot of people have been assuming that Napier won’t be able to keep his impressive 2024 class if the Gators struggle this season on the field.

That idea is wrong for a few reasons which we won’t get into right now.

But if Napier can go out and start taking recruits from higher-level SEC schools right now, that should quiet down the doubters.
