Florida Football Confidence Meter Week Three: Tennessee

  • Last Season: Tennessee won 38-33
  • HFH Confidence Meter Preseason: 45%
  • HFH Confidence Meter Presently: 45%

As we pointed out in our preseason rundown, last season on the road, Florida was less than 40 yards away from outright winning the game. What has also been lost in the shuffle is that Florida football was in control in the first half and had Tennessee backed up to a 3rd and 10 on their own 12, with 1:33 left in the half and a lead in hand, before letting them off the hook.

After one week, there are doubts about Florida’s offense.

But it is also fair to have doubts about Tennessee’s offense.

Joe Milton showcased he had a cannon of an arm against Virginia, but his overall accuracy was lacking, and his actual yards per attempt was quite low.

Tennessee won the game against Virginia because of their offensive line strength. But Florida’s run defense is also significantly improved and should hold the Volunteers at bay much better than Virginia did.

We’re still holding this at 45% confidence, given that this game is in The Swamp and has the chance to be the spark plug to kickstart the season for Florida football.
