SEC Power Rankings Week 2: Florida football slips after poor showing
SEC Power Rankings Teams 4 through 1
You had one job LSU, one job. And that was to stop the hype train surrounding FSU.
But it turns out the lofty preseason rankings for the Tigers didn’t match reality.
A Brian Kelly-coached team falling short in a big game?
Shocking.
The offensive line for LSU was blown up by FSU and the real problem that has the people in Louisiana panicking is the lack of a secondary.
It is probably a mirage, and Lane Kiffin’s group is going to fall short like it always does.
But it’s not like Mercer is an awful FCS team like some of the other cupcakes the SEC played, and Ole Miss with 38 first-half points and another 35 in the second half.
Jaxson Dart was 18/23 for 334 yards and four touchdowns.
Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins went over 100 yards receiving.
Ole Miss plays Alabama in week four.
Something about popcorn.
Traditional wisdom would tell you not to drop a team that has been on top for two years until someone officially unseats them.
The problem is that Georgia’s schedule is so soft this season that we won’t get a true feel for whether or not they are better than Alabama until the two teams likely play each other in Atlanta for the SEC title.
But Georgia gets dropped to number two because they didn’t exactly come out of the gates looking like the two-time defending champs on Saturday.
With five minutes to go in the first half, Georgia was only up 7-0 against UT Martin.
Georgia eventually pulled away to win 48-7, but the faithful in Athens weren’t happy with the performance.
The machine keeps rolling. While Georgia struggled, Alabama looked like they always do against Middle Tennessee State.
Jalen Milroe was 13/18 for 194 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 48 yards and two more touchdowns.
The Crimson Tide scored a touchdown on eight of their 11 full possessions.
Their task gets much harder this week against Texas.
