SEC Round Up: Vanderbilt is 2-0

  • Vanderbilt – 47
  • Alabama A&M – 13

For the second week in a row, Vanderbilt did not cover the Vegas spread. But when you are Vanderbilt, all that matters is collecting wins.

Alabama A&M open the game with a nine minute drive that ended in a field goal. Vanderbilt responded with a five minute drive that also ended in a field goal.

Following a blocked punt for a safety, the first quarter ended with the fund score of 5 to 3 in favor of Vanderbilt.

it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that Vanderbilt actually pulled away. AJ Swann finished a measly 15/29 passing for 194 yards and two touchdowns.

Mississippi State handles their cupcake

  • Mississippi State – 48
  • Southeast Louisiana – 7

Another game featuring an SEC team off to a slow start, Mississippi State was only leading 10 to 7 with two minutes to go in the first half.

Southeast Louisiana put together an eight-minute drive in the second quarter to pull within 10 to 7.

Will Rogers never really kicked into high gear and finished 20/29 passing for 227 yards and two touchdowns.

Jo’Quavious Marks had 103 yards rushing off 11 attempts.

Arkansas has KJ Jefferson

  • Arkansas – 56
  • Western Carolina – 13

In a game that was never in doubt, the one storyline to take away from this game is the lack of a true rushing attack from Arkansas.

The Razorbacks had seven different players credited with a rushing attempt. They combined for 36 carries and just 105 yards.

KJ Jefferson was solid through the air, though, going 18/23 for 246 yards and three touchdowns.
