Florida football recruiting: Gators make top 12 for top-ten WR
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting is on a mission to secure one of the best play-making hauls in the 2025 cycle in their pursuit of the top class in the nation.
They’re already in a good spot for a handful of in-state targets, and just made the top 12 schools for a top ten wideout in the class out of California.
Marcus Harris, a 4-star pass catcher out of Santa Ana, California, named his first round of finalists this afternoon, and the Gators made the list.
Other teams that made the cut include Georgia, Texas, Miami, Washington, and others.
Florida football recruiting: Taking the top off the defense
Harris is an elite deep ball threat. That much is obvious after watching just a few plays on his sophomore highlight reel.
At 6’1”-175, Marcus has the length to go up top and high point the ball over just about every corner he’s matched up against.
He’s a fluid enough route runner for a guy his age but relies a lot on his ability to just run downfield and make a play on the ball, which he does very well.
Marcus is no slouch running down the sideline. He has verified track times of 11.21 in the 100m (season record) and was the third leg in a 42.15-second effort in the 4 x 100.
As he continues to develop and get closer to college, he’ll be able to knock a bit of time off of those numbers and become even more lethal downfield than he already is.
Texas is the current leader for Marcus per On3’s RPM, followed by Oregon and Oklahoma, two other schools in his top 12.
Billy Napier and the Gators are yet to get Marcus across the country to make a visit, but that should happen soon now that they’re one of his finalists.
Recruiting California is always a gamble, and takes a lot of effort for UF. We’ll see if they value Harris enough to make a push.
